Our mission is to help rural areas in the Baltic Sea Region to reach their full potential in bioeconomy. We hope to achieve our mission through building capacity for transnational cooperation in innovation management and smart specialization in bioeconomy. To enable transnational cooperation, we create an open transnational digital platform for innovation in bioeconomy, which will be tested and scaled up via several pilots together with local small and medium sized enterprises.

RDI2CluB unites authorities, research, development and innovation (RDI) institutes and business development bodies from five regions to a joint quest for boosting smart and sustainable bioeconomy development in the rural areas of Baltic Sea Region. The five regions of the RDI2CLuB partnership are:

  • Central Finland/Finland
  • Hedmark/Norway
  • Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship/Poland
  • Vidzeme/Latvia
  • Estonia

Summer Greetings from RDI2CluB! 🌞🍓 Before a summer break, we hope to share a short update on the recent results. Following an intense service design process, Biobord - online bioeconomy innovation hub is almost ready for piloting. The full draft of the Operating Model is shared with the partnership and the platform has been tested for 3 months with a team of 40 RDI2CluB members to work out any technical issues. We are ready to launch the piloting with our user cases by the start of September. More information on how to join Biobord coming up in August!

Value of benchmarking visits is in opportunities to learn from new perspectives, share your success stories and get new contacts. The joint experience creates stronger interaction among partners accross regions - and within a region. 👥 Blog from Regional Council of Central Finland on reflections from the Swietokrzyskie Voivodeship benchmarking visit in June 3-6, 2019 is out now along with a related video. They identify the largest potentials for expanding the bioeconomy in the Baltic Sea Region in agriculture, bioenergy, food and forestry.
'Baltic Leadership Programme on Youth and Bioeconomy' participants, including Santa Niedola from Vidzeme Planning region and Jussi Nissi, a former JAMK student have contributed to the latest 'Sustainable Growth the Nordic Way WEB MAGAZINE - June 2019' with insights to the bioeconomy potential in BSR from youth perspective. The team was also on stage at the #EUSBSR Annual Forum 2019 'Blue and green bioeconomy in the BSR from a youth perspective'. RDI2CluB Advisory Board meeting was held on June 12 in Gdansk in conjunction to the EUSBSR Annual Forum. The Biobord platform design process and the piloting plans were introduced to the Advisory Board members. Recommendations included e.g. wider application of networks, development of specific data-sharing policies and forward looking engagement to the Horizon Europe programme term preparations. Thank you for the practical input, we'll certainly do our best to apply it!

RDI2CluB project was invited to 'pitch' in the Interreg BSR Conference ‘Let’s talk achievements’ organized in Lübeck in April 2019 in 10 minutes. I wanted to share my pitch also as a blog to say all the things that did not fit into the 10 minutes. For example, did you know that our Biobord will have -already during the piloting phase- a potential to build more than 10.5 million different types of teams of three people?
